Taping, changing the world

Many of us have little treasure chests lying around, and we barely notice them. They’re forgotten, lost, or just abandoned to the pile of material possessions accumulating in our closets and garages. These boxes contain camcorder-created home movies, ghostly recordings of loved ones now dead, audio vérité snapshots of living room scenes and obsessively crafted mix-tapes traded in the throes of courtship.

"Taping the World" on January's WorldCanvass

WorldCanvass: African December

WorldCanvass received a few interesting things to broadcast for the holidays this year: a talking drum, internet in a box and a childrens’ book about HIV/AIDS. This can only mean one thing: a trip to Africa! The new International Programs public programming initiative explores topics that are international in scope and central to our understanding of ourselves as part of the global landscape.
