Vocal Recital April 26: The Voices of Spring

Rong Zhang, soprano, and Wayne Wyman, piano, will present a free recital “The Voices of Spring” Friday, April 26, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Senate Chamber of the Old Capitol Museum. This event is open to the public.

Zhang is an associate professor of voice at Wuhan Conservatory of Music. She is a member of national academic committee of voice education and vice president of the opera committee of the Hubei Association of Musicians. She is a currently a visiting scholar at the UI jointly sponsored by the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies and School of Music. Since 2003, she has toured around China as a member of distinguished faculty troupe.

Wyman is a visiting associate professor in the UI School of Music, where he serves as opera coach and teaches song literature and diction. Wyman founded and directed the Lyric Studio young artist program while at the artistic helm of the Lyric Opera of San Antonio. He also directed the opera program at UT-San Antonio, serving as conductor, stage director, and coach. He is on the faculty of the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria.
