Virtual Homecoming is a chance to share memories from your time at the UI and reconnect with your alma mater, regardless of where you are in the world. During International Education Week 2015 (Nov. 16-20), we will be sharing some of these alumni stories.

Zi Wang, originally from Chengdu, China, graduated from the University of Iowa in 2013 with a degree in leisure studies. After graduation, she returned to Chengdu, where she founded Cher Maternal Care, an agency that provides in-home nanny service to families.

Zi had a comforting experience at the UI, and some of her favorite memories involve connecting with the community through volunteering. North Hall was her favorite place on campus because of its coffee shop and its rich history, focusing on helping people with disabilities.

The people Zi helped care for through the Mayor’s Youth Empowerment Program inspired her and made her Iowa experience especially memorable. Despite having disabilities or health conditions, their positive attitudes and passion about life made a big impact on Zi.
