The Confucius Institute at the University of Iowa is celebrating 10 years of collaborative programming between the University of Iowa, Iowa communities, East China Normal University, and the Chinese Ministry of Education. Join us as featured guests reflect on the past ten years and look to future endeavors as the Confucius Institute enters this second decade. The event, which will be held Friday, February 17, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Senate Chamber of the Old Capitol Museum, is free and open to the public.
Featured UI guests include: President Bruce Harreld, Provost Barry Butler, Professor Chuanren Ke, Associate Provost and Dean of International Programs Downing Thomas. East China Normal University Vice President Changli Yang, Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Chicago Yinghui Chen, and Iowa City Community School District Superintendent Stephen Murley will also be featured guests.
Special musical performances will be provided by vocalist Tieyi Zhang as well as the Iowa Saxophonists’ Workshop under the direction of Professor Kenneth Tse.
