Three UI Faculty awarded prestigious Fulbright grants

Fulbright grants have a growing presence at the University of Iowa. This year, a record-breaking nineteen students and three faculty members were awarded Fulbrights to conduct research, study, or teach abroad. While the student program has recently achieved more prominence, recent changes in policy for faculty members have made pursuing faculty Fulbrights a much easier process.

In a restaurant in Greece, 18 students stood and offered words of gratitude in respect for Eleni, archaeologist and tour guide, who accompanied the group throughout their stay. John D’Agata, faculty leader and University of Iowa English professor, remembers this as a vivid example of the special connection that was cultivated within the small community he helped to organize.
