OASIS celebrates world cultures at Bridging Fiesta April 16

Join the Organization for the Active Support of International Students (OASIS) in celebrating their annual cross cultural event, Bridging Fiesta 2016, "Under the Sea." This year's aquatic themed event will be an affair to remember, including live bands, dance performances, food catered by Formosa and OASIS, photo booths, raffle prizes, multicultural activities, and more!

Far Away Family

Recently, I watched a friend’s parent arrive on campus to help him move from one apartment to another. The scene made me recall my former life with my own parents, my family, and my hometown, Xi’an, China. It has been three years since I moved away from my home. Before I turned 18 years old, I never lived away from my family — my school was a mere five-minute drive from my home.

OASIS presents Bridging Fiesta April 6

The Organization for the Active Support of International Students (OASIS) will present its annual Bridging Fiesta on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 7-10 p.m. in Old Brick, 26 E. Market St, Iowa City. This event is open to the public. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the Iowa Memorial Union box office and the cost is $5.

Celebrating international education

The University of Iowa will celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide by recognizing International Education Week 2012 through several events and activities on the UI campus. A joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education, International Education Week was first held in 2000 and today is celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide.
