November 4th, 2014
Joni Kinsey

Please join the Iowa Chapter of the Fulbright Association and UI International Programs for the next Fulbright Lunch & Learn Seminar on Friday, November 7, from 12:30-1:20 p.m. in 1117 University Capitol Centre.

Bring your lunch and hear from Joni Kinsey, professor of American Art History at the University of Iowa, who will present “Britain and ‘The American Turner:’ Transatlantic Inquiries into Art, Landscape, and Time.” The presentation will last 20-30 minutes, allowing time for discussion and socializing.

Kinsey will discuss her Fulbright experience in spring 2014, which took her and her family in search of landscapes, history, and art all over the United Kingdom. Based at the University of Nottingham, Kinsey taught a class on the history of American landscape painting and conducted research for her third book on the art of Thomas Moran, a 19th-century artist known as “The American Turner” for his affinities with the famous British artist J.M.W. Turner.

This series is co-sponsored by the Iowa Chapter of the Fulbright Association and UI International Programs.
