International Programs will host a virtual Boren Awards information session on Tuesday, November 16, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., via Zoom. Learn about award requirements, the application process, and have your questions answered by campus advisor Karen Wachsmuth.

Boren Scholarships (undergraduate) and Fellowships (graduate) are an initiative of the National Security Education Program. They provide funding for U.S. students to study less commonly taught languages in regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Boren Scholars and Fellows are highly motivated individuals who wish to work in the federal national security arena, which may include positions with the State Department and many other agencies. Boren awardees commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation. For more information about Boren Scholarships and Fellowships, visit https://borenawards.org/.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in these events, contact Karen Wachsmuth in advance at karen-wachsmuth@uiowa.edu or 319-335-1436.
