International Mondays Brown Bag Series begins with Peace Corps topic March 1

International Mondays Brown Bag Series presents the first forum for the spring 2010 titled “Life is Calling: Examining the Peace Corps after 49 Years” from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, March 1, at the Iowa City Public Library Meeting Room A. This event is free and open to the public.

The panelists, all returned Peace Corps volunteers, will discuss their experiences in the Peace Corps and examine the history and politics of the institution and its work.

Carly Andrews, University of Iowa International Programs outreach coordinator, will facilitate, and Fran Boyken, UI Peace Corps campus representative and returned Peace Corps volunteer, will moderate the event.

The panel includes the following UI students and faculty who are also returned Peace Corps volunteers: Rebecca Arnold, graduate student in public health; Ken Atkinson, professor emeritus in mathematics; and Scott McNabb, associate professor of education policy and leadership studies.

International Mondays Brown Bag Series is a forum for students, faculty and community members to engage in a discussion of global issues and ideas sponsored by UI International Programs, the UI Stanley Foundation and the Iowa City Public Library.
