The European Studies Group invites you to attend the ESG Lecture Series, titled "Fleur royale, fleur rebelle: The Friendship of Marie Antoinette and Lady Oscar in The Rose of Versailles." This event will take place on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in 315 Phillips Hall. 

The featured speaker at this event is Professor Russell Ganim.  Professor Ganim is the Director of the Division of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures at the University of Iowa. He has served as president of the North American Society for Seventeenth-Century French Literature and as co-editor of the scholarly annual EMF: Studies in Early Modern France and of the EMF monograph series, EMF Critiques. His digital projects include a website, "Images of Power in Louis XIV’s France."  His publications include the book Renaissance Resonance: Lyric Modality in La Ceppède’s Théorèmes, several edited collections on French literature and art, and numerous scholarly articles.
