The Center for Asian and Pacific Studies will host two evenings of bilingual readings next week (October 17 & 18). Akutagawa Prize-winner and International Writing Program writer-in-residence Shibasaki Tomoka will read from two of her short stories in the original Japanese, and undergraduate members of the Workshop in Japanese Literary Translation will read from their English translations. Ms. Shibasaki’s visit is sponsored by generous funding from the Japan Foundation. Both events are free and open to the public.

Shibasaki Tomoka

Shibasaki Tomoka is the author of 19 books of fiction. Her short stories have appeared in English translation in the journal Monkey Business. She received the Akutagawa Prize in 2014 for her novella Spring Garden.
