The fifth-annual European Studies Conference at the University of Iowa “Bridging European Divides” will be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7, 2013, in 315 Phillips Hall. The conference is free and open to the public and no registration is required.
This year’s open title suggests that the conference will feature diverse perspectives from many areas of scholarship in a range of disciplines on any topic, time period, situation or concept that may have bearing on modern Europe. Keynote speakers include Roberto Dainotto, Professor of Romance Studies, Duke University; Roberta Tabanelli, Associate Professor of Italian and Film Studies, University of Missouri, Columbia; and Jean-Louis Pautrot, Professor of French and International Studies, Saint Louis University. Five professors from the University of Iowa will also present their work on Europe.
This conference is sponsored by the European Studies Group in International Programs and the Division of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
