Pre-Departure Webinar Series

The Pre-Departure Webinar series aims to provide accurate and essential information for incoming international students prior to arrival at the University of Iowa. Each webinar will be presented live twice in the same day. Times indicated are in Central Time (U.S. and Canada). Webinars will be recorded and posted on the Pre-departure Resources page. Getting Started

In this webinar, participants will learn about iHawk and MyUI – two systems that students will use to start preparing for coming to the University of Iowa. Participants will also learn about the Pre-arrival Checklist, and have an opportunity to ask questions about the Pre-arrival Checklist, iHawk, and MyUI.

Money Matters

In this webinar, participants will learn about billing for tuition and fees, and will receive information on health insurance.  Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the webinar.

Making Travel Arrangements & Move-In

In this webinar, participants will learn about making travel arrangements to Iowa City. In addition, students will learn more about housing assignments, as well as the move-in process for international students. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the webinar.

In this webinar, participants will learn about academic expectations for studying in the U.S. Participants will learn about behaviors that will help them to be successful students. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the webinar. Note: This session will also be presented in-person at the pre-departure orientations in China. 

Employment

In this webinar, participants will learn about employment, Curricular Practical Training (CPT), and Optional Practical Training (OPT) opportunities. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the webinar.
