The Sejong Talks

University of Iowa King Sejong Institute presents The Sejong Talks:  World Korean Language 4.0 and Korean Wave 4.0 by Seok-Hoon You, PhD, Professor of Linguistics, Korea University.

The number of Korean language educators has reached about 300 thousand worldwide as the number of students learning Korean language is rapidly growing all over the world. The success of Korean language education is largely due to the increase in global popularity of Korean culture, which is called the “Korean Wave (Hallyu)”. The Korean Wave originated since the 1990s in Asian countries, and now it is a global phenomenon. In this lecture, Prof. You is going to introduce the history and the current situation of the Korean Wave, and provide a vision of the future of the Korean Wave and the Korean language education in the United States.
