Peace Corps at the University of Iowa

Since 1961, more than 720 UI alums and 2388 Iowans have served as Peace Corps Volunteers using their skills around the world to serve others in peace and friendship.

UI Peace Corps Representative

Meredith Mahy Gall provides Peace Corps information and application assistance to students and community members during the academic year. Meredith hosts Peace Corps information sessions and applications workshops, attends career fairs, and shares her experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Botswana. You can also meet with Meredith during her walk-in office hours and by appointment. In addition, she is available to speak to classes, clubs, and organizations about Peace Corps opportunities.

Peace Corps Spotlight

March Spotlight: Sydney

Sydney has been serving in Zambia, Africa for the past nine months teaching English. Within the Education sector, Sydney leads an afterschool reading club where she conducts lessons about the alphabet and letter sounds. The students also get to read books that a non-profit donated to the students. Sydney hopes to use these books to start a library at her school. Sydney also has an adult literacy club, where she teaches community members how to read, write, and speak English.Peace Corps Spotlight
