CDE Dominican Republic Winter Scholarship


The UI Center for Diversity and Enrichment will provide scholarships to students participating in the 2019-2020 session of the Migration and Social Entrepreneurship program in the Dominican Republic. Students who are selected to receive this scholarship will be asked to serve as a CDE Diversity Ambassador. In this role, students could be asked to participate in panel presentations, facilitate Q & A sessions where CDE-eligible students can find out about your experiences travelling abroad, or receive advice or information.

The CDE Scholarship for the Migration and Social Entrepreneurship program in the Dominican Republic, up to $1,000, will be awarded in the Winter 2019-2020 session; the number of scholarships and actual value awarded will be based on available funding.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must:

  • be an undergraduate, full-time, degree-seeking UI student enrolled in good academic standing
  • be planning to participate in the Migration and Social Entrepreneurship program in the Dominican Republic Study Abroad program

Only students participating in the Migration and Social Entrepreneurship (ABRD:3361) program are eligible for this scholarship.

    Selection Procedure and Criteria

    All applicants will be reviewed on the following three (3) criteria in the following order of importance:

    1. financial need
    2. CDE participation/involvement
    3. application essay/purpose and meaning

    Application Procedure

    Students who meet the requirements listed above are encouraged to apply for this CDE scholarship. The online application (link below) includes questions and one 350-word essay based on three questions provided. Incomplete applications will NOT be accepted.
