This page serves as a resource page for gathering assessment efforts related to international students on campus. These resources can provide background and context for future efforts to assess international student experiences and perspectives on our campus. Campus-Wide Assessment

The University regularly collects data from all students. Campus partners can request data pertaining to international students from these offices to provide background and context to supplement their own assessment efforts. 

 

National College Health Assessment (NCHA)
Student Health & Welness


The ACHA-National College Health Assessment (NCHA) is a nationally recognized research survey that collects data about students' health habits, behaviors, and perceptions. For more information about NCHA, please contact Trisha Welter from Student Health & Wellness. 

 

Student Experience in the Research University (SERU)
Office of Assessment


The SERU survey provides an extensive overview of the student experience, gathering information on academic and community engagement, experiences in their major, overall satisfaction, and perceived campus climate for diversity. Please contact the Office of Assessment for more information. 

 

Excelling@Iowa
Academic Support and Retention


Excelling@Iowa is a University-designed early-alert system that asks students to respond to a survey in the first 3-5 weeks of each semester. Based on the student's response and some pre-college information, the system identifies students who may struggle with the transition to college and students who might be at-risk for leaving the university. UI Senior Exit Survey
Office of Assessment


Administered to all UI undergraduates at the time they file to graduate, The Senior Exit Survey is a brief survey asks students about their experiences at UI, their participation in selected learning opportunities, and faculty or staff who made a difference for them during their time at UI. Bridging Domestic and Global Diversity (Bridge) Program Assessment
International Student and Scholar Services


The Bridge Program is a leadership training program designed to increase intercultural awareness and skills, while enhancing understanding and connection through diversity. The assessment was created to assess student learning outcomes as well as to collect feedback for the Bridge Program. Pre-departure Events Assessment

The Pre-departure Events Assessment includes volunteer assessment, student participant assessment, and a parent survey to gather information on volunteer training, student participants learning and event feedback. International Student Orientation Survey

The International Student Orientation Survey was created to gather feedback for international students' pre-arrival experience and orientation experience. For more information, please contact Brandon Paulson from International Student and Scholar Services.

Academic Support Services Survey - Spring 2014

The goals of Academic Support Services Survey were to assess international students' awareness of the academic support resources on campus and find out effective ways to deliver information on academic support resources to international students. As a result of the survey, a resource guide for international students was created. 

 

International Student Employment Survey - Fall 2014
International Student and Scholar Services


The goals of the International Student Employment Survey were to gain an understanding of international students' experience working on campus, as well as their expectations for supervisors and being student employees. The results of the survey was used to develop a workshop on Supervising International Students. 

 

International Student Survey with Move-In Process
Residence Education

Academic Advisors & International Students Assessment - Fall 2015 - Spring 2016
International Student and Scholar Services


The goals Academic Advisors & International Students Assessment project were to understand the expectations of academic advising from both international students and academic advisors' standpoints, to identify areas that ISSS can provide support for academic advisors to better work with international students. The assessment include two parallel surveys for international students and academic advisors in the fall and focus groups for international students in the spring. 

     

    Graduate Student Needs Assessment - Spring 2016
    International Student and Scholar Services


    The goal of the International Graduate Student Needs Assessment was to gather information on graduate and professional student needs. The assessment includes two surveys - one for international graduate and professional students and one for domestic graduate and professional students. After reviewing the results of the assessment, a professional development certificate program for graduate and professional students, Engaging Across Cultures, was created. 

     

    International Student Involvement - Spring 2017
    International Student and Scholar Services & Vice President for Student Life 


    The International Student Involvement assessment project was to gather information on undergraduate international students' extra-curricular involvement and experience.
