STARTALK Summer 2017 Chinese Program, July 5 - July 28
The STARTALK Summer Chinese Program is a custom four-week Chinese language course made specifically for high school students. Iowa high school students in any grade with little or no background of Chinese language can apply for program. The program will incorporate various cultural activities and a visit to Chicago’s Chinatown at no cost to the students.
Students will earn 3 University of Iowa credits with successful completion of this program. Students may earn dual credits through the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option. After the summer program, students can continue their Chinese study in their own high school Chinese program or by enrolling in either the regular or the online courses at the University of Iowa. Actual cost to attend the program is $2,000 which includes tuition, textbook, cultural workshops, a field trip, and lunches. All students who are admitted will receive a scholarship and only need to pay for $70 for enrollment. Students living beyond one-hour drive from Iowa City can apply for dorm housing at an additional cost of $300 with meals paid.
