Summer

Summer programs vary in length and focus. Many UI faculty members take students abroad on programs emphasizing the expertise of that professor, while broader language and culture programs are also offered. Additionally summer is a popular time for students to do internships and there are internships abroad as well.

Fall

Fall can be a wonderful time to study abroad....you have all summer to prepare and many foreign universities share similar academic calendars to the US which means that you will be arriving at the same time as other new degree-seeking students to the university, a good time to meet people and make friends!

Winter

Winter is increasingly popular as a time to "break the mold" and study overseas. Although the programs offered are necessarily short-term, the topics are studied intensively and the instructors are UI faculty members with a keen interest in communicating their expertise in the subject. The goal is to turn the study abroad location into a "learning laboratory" and make use of local cultural, social, and historical resources. Our winter programs for 2009-10 will be on-line in August, but you can read a brief description now.

Spring

More people study abroad in the spring than in the fall, although we still haven't figured out why. Some hypothesize that it has to do with football season. Well, if you're a Hawks fan and can't manage to skip a fooball season, check out our study abroad programs for the spring semester.
