Studying in English

Some students do not have the language capability, are intimidated by or uninterested in studying abroad using a foreign language, but that doesn't mean that they can't go abroad! There are many options for studying abroad where english is the language of instruction, even if it is not the official language of the host country. Additionally, you should keep in mind that, even if you go to an english-speaking country, there will be many words that have different meanings, different slang will be used and you might just feel like they're speaking a different language!

Thinking about language

Studying abroad is a wonderful opportunity to work on a foreign language. Not only can you take language classes, but outside of the classroom, you will be surrounded by language. There are programs available for students that have never taken any foreign language before as well as for major-level students. Some programs can help you finish off your foreign language general education requirements. Keep in mind that there are often many countries that speak a certain language, so there are lots of opportunities for exploration. Taking French in Senegal would be quite a different experience than in Paris! The programs listed by language offer at least one language class in that language. You can search for the following languages in the left hand search function:

Basque : Catalan : Chinese : Czech : Danish : Dutch : Finnish : French : German : Greek : Hungarian : Irish : Italian : Japanese : Korean : Polish : Portuguese : Russian : Spanish : Swedish : Thai
