Study Abroad Merit Scholarships
Note to fall/AY applicants: The review process will be completed in early April & you'll be notified by e-mail soon thereafter. In the meantime, no news is not good news or bad news. It's simply no news. Be patient!
Note to summer applicants: Ditto, only it's more likely that it will be mid-April before the process is wrapped up.
A common application form (PDF) or (Word) is used for the following merit-based study abroad scholarships administered by the Office for Study Abroad.

By completing one application, you will be considered for all the awards available for the session you will be studying abroad. You are eligible to apply for these awards if you are a UI undergraduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. (Additional requirements may apply to some awards. Click on the award for more information.)
Applications are reviewed by faculty members of the Study Abroad Scholarship Committee. The following criteria are used in recommending awards:
- academic and personal objectives which are clearly defined and realistic
- academic achievement and preparation
- quality and completeness of the project proposal
- contribution of the study abroad experience to the student’s overall academic program
- evidence of maturity, motivation and adaptability to a different cultural environment
- demonstrated interest in learning about foreign cultures
