The UI Opera Studies Forum (OSF) will continue its lecture series coordinated with the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD theatre screenings with a talk on Puccini’s “La fanciulla del West” Wednesday, Dec. 15, presented by Kim Marra. All lectures take place at 5:30 p.m. in the University Capitol Centre conference seminar room 2520D and are free and open to the public.
Marra is a professor of American studies and theatre arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
The lecture series is intended to guide audiences to a better understanding of the Metropolitan Opera performances, which are shown live at Sycamore Theatres in Iowa City and other venues worldwide.
Other lectures this season, both presented by UI faculty, will be on Gluck’s “Iphigenie en Tauride” (Feb. 21) and Verdi’s “Il trovatore” (Apr. 26).
This series is made possible with support from OSF, UI International Programs and a grant from Humanities Iowa.
