Join UI music professor David Puderbaugh as he recounts his Fulbright experience in Estonia during an upcoming Lunch & Learn seminar, presented by the Iowa Chapter of the Fulbright Association.
Bring your lunch and join as Puderbaugh presents “Choral Adventures in Estonia” on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, from 12:30–1:20 p.m. in 1117 University Capitol Centre in the Old Capitol Mall. This event is free and open to the public.
Puderbaugh is associate professor of music and assistant director of choral activities in the UI School of Music. He received a 2004–05 Fulbright Fellowship to research Estonia’s national song festivals during the Soviet occupation. He will speak about the power of song as an instrument of nationalistic and cultural identity, as well as his personal, ongoing experience of musical assimilation into Estonian culture.
This presentation will last 20–30 minutes, allowing time for discussion and socializing afterward. The event is sponsored by the Iowa Chapter of the Fulbright Association and International Programs.
