International Programs (IP) hosts hundreds of free, public events each year, from the annual International Education Week activities, to lectures from visiting scholars on international topics, to the monthly WorldCanvass radio and television show. Check our IP calendar  to learn about upcoming events.
The Confucius Institute  at the UI offers courses in Chinese language and culture . Non-credit community courses are offered in Iowa City for adults (age 14 and up) and children (age 5 to 13 years old). All ability levels are welcome.
Connect with organizations around campus and in the community that engage in international activity. Consider volunteering with IP. Several programs require the assistance of volunteers, including international student orientations, classroom visits by international speakers, workshops and panels, and more. Fill out our comprehensive volunteer form  to get involved.
Did you know that some study abroad programs are open to community members, not just students? The India Winterim program  is one such example. This three-week program provides participants with the opportunity learn from and directly interact with leading social entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations and academic institutions within India’s diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and geographical mosaic.
