April 11-13, 2013
The Iowa City Documentary Film Festival is an international festival run and organized by students at the University of Iowa. The focus of the festival is to incorporate different ideas of what it means to document. The festival, in its eleventh year, is challenging conventional modes of thinking about art, documentation, and non-fiction. We aim to confront our audience with new ways to experience reality. The duality of past and present, subjective and objective, fact and fiction collide to construct our notions of what it means to make the present permanent—in simpler terms, to document.
This event made possible by generous support from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Perry A. and Helen Judy Bond Fund for Interdisciplinary Interaction, the Bijou Cinema, the Institute for Cinema and Culture, International Programs, and the Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature.
