Scholarship support  is the most tangible expression of the UI’s commitment to increasing the number of  students who study/conduct research abroad.  Study Abroad expects to disburse more than $600,000 in scholarships this year.  Different sets of merit-based scholarships and need-based grants are available to students studying abroad for a semester/academic year [1] and for students studying abroad during the summer/winter [2] sessions (or other short periods of time). We encourage you to apply for any awards for which you are eligible!  Additionally, there are diversity [3] and other UI scholarships [4], and several, significant external awards [5] that support study abroad.
