UI Public Health student Jenna Armstrong presents at International Day 2007.
The University of Iowa will host the 12th Annual International Day Human Rights Conference for area middle school students on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Coralville. The theme for the event this year is "The Human Right to Childhood."
This year the International Day event is proud to have a wide variety of notable speakers such as Professor Jeremy Brigham who will be hosting a session on "Child labor, Child work and Human Rights." Stanley Foundation member, Jill Goldesberry, will be giving a session titled "Youth Service Around the World." There will also be some new faces at the event this year like Kate Kauper who will present an interactive workshop on "Human Rights in the News and Around the World." This years' International Day even has a group of people who will talk about how they use music to help children to deal with the effects of war. So it stands to be one of the most exciting International Days yet.
