International Classroom Journey
Volunteers make this program possible! We are always seeking volunteers to present their stories to classrooms. If you are an international student willing to share your culture with area students, or a returned study abroad student who would like to share stories about your time abroad, this program is for you.
A training session is held each fall for new volunteers. (Check the Happenings link for the date.) Every effort is made to accommodate presenter’s schedules. A minimal time commitment is required. If interested please fill out the form below.
Culture Kits
We are always looking for the worldly expertise of international students, international community members, and U.S. students who have studied or traveled abroad to help us organize our culture kits. If you'd like to volunteer your time to help us better categorize and catalogue our culture kits so that your "country of expertise" can be more effectively represented, please contact Mary van Andel at (319) 384-2255 or via email at mary-vanandel@uiowa.edu.
Student Internship Opportunities with Outreach
As an intern with International Programs Outreach, you would volunteer whatever time you have available to any number of the following:
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Drive ICJ volunteers to classroom visits
- Assist with planning Outreach events
- Assist with the digitalization of our various resources
- Update the Outreach webpage
- Coordinate volunteer and social events
- Serve on the International Education Week committee
Benefits of being an Outreach intern include:
- Having your own workspace with a computer, printer, and phone
- Meeting and working with people from all around the world
- Developing programming and administrative skills
- It's a great resume builder!
