Become A Host Family

In light of this summer’s flooding, the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) is partnering with the Council for International Visitors to Iowa Cities (CIVIC) and Friends of International Students (FIS) to offer short-term home stays for new international students. They are seeking volunteers from the community who are willing to provide accommodations and hospitality to new international students in need of temporary housing. Ideally, homes will be located near public transportation so students can easily travel to and from campus. Food will be the responsibility of the students.

The program, which begins Friday, Aug. 8, will supplement the efforts of University Housing in placing new students in temporary housing until on-campus residences are available on Aug. 18. Short-term home stays will also be available for new students searching for off-campus housing.
