Inviting International Scholars

The Office of International Students and Scholars is responsible for immigration and personal advising for international students and for visiting scholars who are at UI in J-1 status.   Departments should contact OISS for assistance with any special needs or questions for these students and scholars.

Other Offices

Other offices which provide services to our international community are:

The Office of Admissions processes applications for admission to UI, as well as transfer credit analysis for undergraduate transfers.

English as a Second Language Programs provides intensive English instruction and supplemental ESL classes for international students.  ESL Programs also administers the English placement and Teaching Assistant English testing for the University.

Faculty and Staff Immigration Services processes applications for temporary H-1B, O-1 and TN immigration statuses as well as permanent residence for faculty and professional employees.

Graduate Medical Education has responsibility for foreign medical residents and fellows at UIHC.

Payroll provides assistance and information on taxation and other payment issues of international employees.
