Who We Are

International Volunteers (IV) is a UI student-led organization that gives students the opportunity to volunteer abroad, while acquiring international experience and expanding knowledge of other cultures. The experience extends far beyond hands-on service, with many opportunities for cultural exchange and personal transformation. And the engagement impacts both students and the community served. Membership is open to students of all majors.

What We Do

IV partners with Cross Cultural Solutions (CCS), a non-profit organization recognized and respected as a leader in international volunteering. The ultimate goal of IV is to volunteer internationally as a group for 2-4 weeks during the summer at one of the CCS locations. Throughout the year, members of this organization will prepare for their international volunteering experience, including choosing their location and area of impact and learning about the community they will volunteer in, as well as organizing service work and fundraising events locally to increase awareness of international issues. During the volunteer experience abroad, members will have the opportunity to work on important community initiatives related to healthcare, education, children and youth, the elderly, people with disabilities, women's empowerment, or others.
