Thanks to UI graduate Ryan Kloberdanz, an entire village in the Kingdom of Tonga is spreading the Hawkeye spirit. Kloberdanz, from West Des Moines, Iowa graduated from the UI in 2006 with degrees in political science and journalism and mass communication. From 2012-2014, he and his wife worked in a rural village of Tonga through the Peace Corps. In this video, we see and hear the residents of the village singing the Iowa Fight Song!

Pius teaches courses in Swahili, which he says is made easier by the advanced technology available at the UI.

Mortified after ordering a salad topped with moldy cheese for his dining companion, University of Iowa student RuiHao Min came up with the idea for a visual menu translation app to help international students make more informed ordering decisions.

In this video, two returned University of Iowa students share their thoughts and reflections on their year in Freiburg. The Academic Year in Freiburg is a two-semester consortial program with the Universities of Iowa, Wisconsin-Madison, Michigan and Michigan State. It offers students the opportunity to improve fluency in the German language while taking a blend of program classes and regular German university classes.

The Irish Writing Program takes place on the University College Dublin campus in the Belfield section of Dublin, Ireland. The program has two components: writing workshops, and an interdisciplinary Irish literature & culture course. It offers six semester hours of credit. Grades are issued by the University of Iowa on a University of Iowa transcript.
