The University of Iowa’s Opera Studies Forum will begin its fall lecture series coordinated with the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD theatre transmissions on Wednesday, Oct. 10, with a talk on Verdi’s Otello, presented by Miriam Gilbert.
All lectures take place in the University Capitol Centre Conference Seminar Room 2520D at 5:30 p.m., are free of charge, and are open to the public.
This lecture series is intended to guide audiences to a better understanding of the Metropolitan Opera performances, which are shown live at Sycamore Cinema in Iowa City and other venues worldwide. Verdi's Shakespearean masterpiece Otello will be screened live at Sycamore Cinema Saturday, Oct. 27, with an encore performance Wednesday, Nov. 14.
