One of the questions we hear most often is: "What can you do with an International Studies major?" While the question is common, the answers are as varied and interesting as the students pursuing the major. The B.A. in International Studies opens the door to a wide array of exciting options and opportunities, both in the United States and in countries all over the globe. Our graduates are employed throughout the world in diverse and growing sectors such as business, government, international development, non-governmental organizations, philanthropy, and the arts. The major is excellent preparation for graduate studies and encourages students to think globally as they pursue work in a variety of disciplines.

With nearly endless opportunities, the international job search can be a daunting process. International Studies majors are encouraged to make full use of the services available at the Pomerantz Career Center throughout their tenure at Iowa. Professional career advisors are available to help students better understand the current job market, search for internships and externships, create an effective resume, and conduct a job search in their senior year. The International Studies program office also provides career materials and resources to help our students think about the options and opportunities available to them.
