"Sirens, Screams, and Static: Polyphony in Bush Mama and other LA Rebillion Films"

This week The Proseminar in Cinema and Culture welcomes guest speaker Paula Massood. Her lecture is titled “Sirens, Screams, and Static: Polyphony in Bush Mama and other LA Rebellion Films,” and analyzes the construction of an aural cityscape by such independent African American filmmakers as Charles Burnett and Haile Gerima.

Professor Massood’s talk is scheduled for April 1 at 7pm in 101 BCSB and will be followed by a screening of Bush Mama (Gerima, 1979) and a question and answer session.
