Conference Goal
Conference participants will explore the many manifestations of private and workplace violence as reflections of the dominant public culture of violence. They will then examine creative and novel recommendations for reversing the epidemic. The conference was divided up into five panels, each panel covering a specific topic. Time for questions and discussion was provided. There were four break-out sessions, during which participants and speakers split up into smaller groups to facilitate further discussion on topics of interest to students and other participants.
Conference Objectives
- be able to recognize the many hidden forms of domestic violence at home and abroad,
- be able to identify at least 5 categories of dangerous worker situations often overlooked in national labor statistics,
- be able to discuss the significance of social co-factors in promoting situations of domestic and workplace violence,
- be able to discuss the importance of regional and international weapons development and trade on promoting and sustaining situations of domestic, workplace, and international violence,
- be able to access at least 10 different local and regional educational and academic programs and NGOs working to identify, respond to and end domestic, workplace, and international violence.
