Global@Iowa (187:110) provides students with a unique experience in peer mentoring and leadership development. Students will enroll in Global@Iowa as Peer Mentors for incoming international students. The course comprises two distinct phases:
1) Completing five training/preparation sessions with the instructor and other Global@Iowa students held on Wednesdays from 12:30-1:45 for the first five weeks of the semester
2) Leading small group discussion sessions with international students
Course objectives are two-fold. First, Peer Mentors will receive training, conduct a small-team leadership planning project, and serve as peer mentors to hone their leadership skills in a multicultural setting. Second, Peer Mentors will promote the academic success and cultural adjustment of incoming international students and enhance the University of Iowa experience for members of the Hawkeye community, both international and domestic.
