International Programs (IP) at the University of Iowa provides leadership and support for internationally-oriented teaching, research, creative work and community engagement.
Through IP, University of Iowa students can pursue a Master’s Degree in International Studies as well as specialized certificates in global and regional studies and a nationally-innovative doctorate in second-language acquisition. Students can also enhance their educational experience through hundreds of study, work and volunteer opportunities abroad. IP provides immigration support and advising to ever-growing numbers of international students and offers assistance to faculty and students searching for scholarships and grants to pursue international research and study.
IP supports 14 nationally-renowned academic programs and centers, which offer rich collaborative opportunities for faculty interested in interdisciplinary exploration of international topics. And the UI sustains international research and training through agreements with nearly 150 universities and research institutes worldwide.
IP strives to educate local and regional communities as well through teacher training, public lectures, presentations, visits to K-12 classrooms, and other initiatives that increase global awareness. Through radio, television, the Internet, and iTunes, IP’s public program WorldCanvass takes the compelling people, projects and programs of IP and the UI into people’s homes, cars, computers, and mobile devices so that they can continue to learn about the world when it’s convenient for them.
In each of these areas, private support has been instrumental in IP's success. Ongoing support is crucial to advancing IP's mission.
