The story behind Mozart’s La clemenza di tito will be examined for public audiences in the next UI lecture coordinated with the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD theatre transmissions. The talk will be presented by Robert Ketterer and held Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 5:30 p.m. in the University Capitol Centre, Room 2520D. This event is free and open to the public.

Ketterer is a professor of classics and cinema and comparative literature in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa. His research interest is in Greek and Roman drama and its reception in the classical tradition, with a special interest in early Italian opera.

This lecture series is intended to guide audiences to a better understanding of the Metropolitan Opera performances, which are shown live at Sycamore Cinema in Iowa City and other venues worldwide. La clemenza di tito will be screened at Sycamore Cinema on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 11:55 a.m.

The Opera Studies Forum and UI International Programs sponsor this lecture series. View the schedule of all upcoming lectures at http://international.uiowa.edu/opera–studies/events.
