On Tuesday, 04 December 2012 at 12pm, a public debate in regards to US–China policy in the 21st century will be held at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 30 North Clinton Street, Iowa City. The debate will feature University of Iowa faculty member Brian Lai and Feng Wang, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. The event is free and open to the public. University Honors students are especially encouraged to attend.
Brian Lai is an Associate Professor of Political Science and currently serves as the Director of Graduate Studies whose scholarship and courses focus around terrorism, American foreign policy, and international relations. Feng Wang serves as the Director of the Brookings–Tsinghua Center, Senior Fellow of foreign policy and global economy and development of the John L. Thornton China Center also of the Brookings Institute, and is a Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Irvine. One of his most recent books, Boundaries and Categories: Rising Inequality in Post–Socialist Urban China, won the 2009 Outstanding Book Award from the American Sociological Association’s Asian and Asian American Section.
