We are very happy to announce a concert of music and dance by a Chinese performing troupe (20 performers) from South Central University of Nationalities in Wuhan (Hubei Province), China, that is visiting our Confucius Institute at the University of Iowa. This concert is free and open to the public.

First International Symposium on Chinese Applied Linguistics

The First International Symposium on Chinese Applied Linguistics will be held at The University of Iowa (UI) on April 11-12, 2008. The Symposium is being organized by The Confucius Institute at The University of Iowa and its partner institution, East China Normal University in Shanghai.
This Symposium will serve as a platform for researchers on Chinese applied linguistics around the world to generate ideas, cross disciplinary boundaries, and disseminate research about issues and concerns in the learning and teaching of Chinese as a non-primary language (including heritage language learning) across different acquisition stages in different settings. The symposium is also connected to the launching of a new refereed journal entitled Journal of Chinese Applied Linguistics.
