Overview

Our resources section contains information about human rights printed publications and online resources. The human rights-related internet resources are those that the UICHR staff, colleagues, and friends have found most useful in their daily work. We strive to include only sites containing high quality content likely to match the interests of our visitors.

This section is a work always in progress. Accordingly, we welcome any and all suggestions that can enhance this site. Currently we are in the process of reviewing, reconstituting, and updating our various resource databases. What follows is our progress so far.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to improve this resource site.

"Recalibrating the Law of Humans with the Laws of Nature: Climate Change, Human Rights, and Intergenerational Justice"

by Burns H. Weston and Tracy Bach

Based on the two meetings of the Distinguished Advisors Panel in Vermont in the fall of 2008, Burns Weston and Tracy Bach completed extensive revisions of the Climate Legacy Initiative (CLI) Policy Paper. The CLI is devoted to bringing the law of government in line with the laws of nature. Its goal is nothing less than to change the way we think about our world – and the way our laws deal with a world rocked by climate change. The CLI’s new policy paper presents specific recommendations for achieving that goal.

"The History of Sexual Violence in Conflict Zones: Conference Report"

by Elizabeth Heineman

In April of 2006, Kent Cmiel and Elizabeth Heineman began organizing a conference to discuss sexual violence in conflict zones (SVCZ) as a contemporary and pressing issue in need of study in a historical context. In this report Heineman discusses why SVCZ has been overlooked and under-studied, as well as some of the important historical findings and ideas that came about from prioritizing an understanding of this type of violence.
