The UICHR serves to provide University of Iowa students with opportunities to further their understanding and exposure to the field of human rights. The UICHR engages in a variety of educational programming, service learning projects and competitive contests to encourage student involvement in human rights.

Teaching Workshops
Following the 2006 Conference, the UICHR and the UI History Dept. co-sponsored a teaching workshop intended to assist faculty and graduate students in the development of course materials for teaching about SVCZ.
Teaching Modules
The teaching modules that resulted from the SVCZ workshops and conference are now available to the public for use and adaptation.
Burns Weston International Essay Prize
The UICHR sponsors the annual Burns H. Weston International Human Rights Essay Prize, for undergraduate, graduate and professional students.
Careers for Change Lecture Series
The Careers for Change Lecture Series focuses on activists in varying fields of social justice and human rights work.
Human Rights Reading Group
This academic human rights reading group offers all university students, faculty and staff the opportunity to engage in a series of discussions on human rights issues and ideas of relevance to the UI community.
Human Rights Courses
There are many human rights themed courses offered by the University of Iowa, including those approved for the human rights concentration in the International Studies BA program.
Human Rights Training Programs
There are numerous workshops and short seminars that can help introduce students to various aspects of human rights work.
