National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA)

The National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) seminar on East Asia will be offered by the UI Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, NCTA Partner Site of the University of Colorado National Coordinating Site. This NCTA seminar is part of a national initiative designed to encourage and facilitate teaching and learning about East Asia in secondary world history, geography, and literature curricula, and is generously funded by a grant from the Freeman Foundation.

The Fall Summer 2010 NCTA Seminar Program at the University of Iowa is starting to accept registrations from secondary school teachers of world history, world geography, world literature, art and special education in the State of Iowa. This 30- hour seminar will be held on campus of University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.

The Fall 2010 NCTA Seminar consists of 4 Saturdays of face-to-face instructions from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm on September 18, October 16, November 6 and December 4, 2010. The program consists of 4 major themes: Women in Asia, Getting to Know the Koreas, Ethnic Identity and Nationalism in China, and Multi-cultural Japanese Society.
