In Mchana Mwema (Lunch time), Kingwendu tries to impress a young woman by taking her to eat at a restaurant, but he has no money. After they order, he leaves her at the restaurant to go out and find some money. He tells some acquaintances that his child has died and needs money for the burial, and gets some contributions from them. After he pays the restaurant bill and is strolling around town with his new girlfriend, he runs into the acquaintances to contributed to the fictitious burial.

Kabwe, the baby’s father, tries to win Rita back, but when his advances are rejected he has a sorcerer put a spell on her. At her wedding to Raita, the spell causes Rita to descend into madness.
