International Crossroads Community is student organization of the month
The International Crossroads Community (ICC), a University of Iowa living and learning community, was recently awarded the April/May Student Organization of the Month Award by the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership. The award recognizes outstanding dedication and work by UI student organizations, and ICC has been specifically acknowledged for its recently successful event, Gusto Latino.
Gusto Latino was held April 29, 2011, at Old Brick in Iowa City. This annual Latin dance party brought together a wide range of students and community members of diverse backgrounds to interact through music, dance and conversation. The event included dancing lessons, a dance contest, live musical performances by Salsa Vibe and the UI Latin and Jazz Ensemble, and a DJ mixing Latin beats with hip-hop and pop music.
The ICC is made up of U.S. and international students of all majors, language abilities, international interests, ages and experiences. ICC cross-cultural programs are coordinated by University Housing and UI International Programs.
