Stanley fellowships, scholarships make international research possible

The Stanley Fellowships for Graduate Student Research Abroad were awarded to 17 University of Iowa graduate students like Sonia Gunderson for the 2006-2007 year. The awards are given through UI International Programs in the amount of $2,000 each. The Stanley Fellowships are intended to encourage UI graduate students to pursue foreign research and career interests by supporting preliminary field research abroad. Graduate and professional students in all fields of study are encouraged to apply.

Five UI undergraduates were also awarded Stanley Undergraduate Scholarships for International Research/Fieldwork. These awards, ranging from $2,000 to $3,000, are presented to UI undergraduates who undertake small-scale research projects that require research abroad.

These awards are all made possible by the Stanley-UI Foundation Support Organization, and are the UI's premier awards for international study.
