Francesco “Cesco” Molinari and Nadija Mustapic

Francesco “Cesco” Molinari, from Venice, Italy, and Nadija Mustapic, from Opatija, Croatia, were wed Aug. 12, 2006, at Kvarner Bay on the northern Croatian coast. Molinari graduated in May 2006 with an Interdisciplinary Master's Degree in International Studies from The University of Iowa, and Mustapic graduated from the UI in May 2005, with an MFA in printmaking and minor in intermedia.

Molinari is an architect at the F & F architecture studio in Rijeka, Croatia, where he collaborates as a consultant with a non-profit organization Platforma 981 in Zagreb. Platforma 981 focuses on social and economic changes that occur as a result of Croatia's efforts to enter the European Union that affect the architecture and urbanism.

Mustapic teaches at the Applied Arts Academy in Rijeka (Akademija primjenjenih umjetnosti) at the University of Rijeka in Rijeka, Croatia, where she is an assistant professor in the printmaking department. She is also the on-site coordinator for the UI School of Art and Art History Intermedia Project "Iowa in Rijeka/Projekt Oko Sokolovo.”

Lauren McCarthy

Lauren McCarthy, of Des Moines, Iowa, began a master’s degree program in fall 2006 in Latin American studies at the University of Cambridge in England. (See related feature story on Page 3 of this issue of International Accents.) McCarthy graduated in May 2006 with an International Studies bachelor’s degree. She was also one of eight students graduating with honors, including being one of two honors students graduating with highest distinction. McCarthy also received a double emphasis in Latin American studies and development and took home political science and Spanish degrees.
