2014 Events:

Hao Huang, tenor and professor of voice from Wuhan Conservatory of Music, will perform a recital of folk and artistic songs from Chinese and Western operas on Saturday, April 26 at 8 p.m. in the University Capitol Centre Recital Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

Accompanying Huang on piano will be Casey Rafn, UI graduate student of music and winner of the 2011 Liszt-Garrison International Piano Competition Young Artist category.

Huang received his doctorate of arts from Stuttgart Conservatory of Music, Germany. He is a professor and associate director for the graduate program at the Vocal Music Department at Wuhan Conservatory of Music, China. He is a member of Chinese Musicians Association, director of Hubei Overseas Students Society and honored volunteer of the 8th China Art Festival. He is a currently a visiting scholar jointly sponsored by the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies and Professor Stephen Swanson of the UI School of Music.

This event is co-sponsored by the UI School of Music in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the UI Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, the UI Confucius Institute, and UI International Programs.
