Professor Chuanren KE
Professor Chuanren KE is the Founding Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Iowa.
Professor KE is a professor of Chinese in the Department of Asian Languages and a professor of Second Language Acquisition in the Doctoral Program in Second Language Acquisition (FLARE) at the University of Iowa.
Professor KE holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics with a Ph.D. minor in Psychology from Indiana University at Bloomington and a BA in English from Beijing Normal University.

Professor Helen SHEN is an Associate Professor in the Asian and Slavic Languages Department at the University of Iowa with research interests in Second Language Acquisition in Chinese.
Professor SHEN holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in Written Language Acquisition with a focus in Comparative Written Language Acquisition (Chinese and English) with a minor area of study in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Nevada. Professor SHEN holds an MA from the Department of Education from Zhejiang University, XiXi Campus and a BA from the department of Chinese Language and Literature at Ningbo University.
